| The EU dictators have thrown out the legal challenge
to the EC Food Supplements Directive made by the Alliance
For Natural Health, the HFMA and the NAHS. This means
that only ingredients found a "positive list" can
be used and then only in non-therapeutic doses. This
means, for example, that something as simple and harmless
as high-dose vitamin C is going to be illegal, and its
going to be illegal in any dose in unlisted forms (for
example magnesium ascorbate which is actually healthier
than ascorbic acid). Anyone living in the EU will be
well aware that most of the regulations are not in the
people's interest, but those of the greedy bureaucrats
who bask unaccountably in power and opulence. It is very
likely that this decision was made because the European
Pharmaceutical companies have such a huge influence on
the EU legislative process, and it is not in their interest
to have a healthy European population. This is an absolute
calamity, especially as back in April the European Advocate
General (the senior legal advisor to the European Courts
of Justice) ruled that the EU directive was not legal
under EU law. So much for the rule of law. We live in
a dictatorship. |

| Despite the fact that Bush has been shown to have close Saudi ties with those involved in 9/11; despite the fact that he irresponsibly ignored terrorist warnings for 9/11 because of those ties and thus caused the deaths of 3000 of his own citizens; despite the fact that the American economy has run up a huge deficit under his control; despite the fact that he has repeatedly lied to his people and has taken his country to war over false pretexts, killing 100,000 innocent Iraqi civilians in the process; despite the fact that he has trashed America's image in the eyes of the world; despite the fact that he openly flouts basic human rights; despite the fact that he is widely acknowledged to be the worst and least intelligent president of all time; and despite the fact that his legacy will be as the president who made the world a far more dangerous place and who trashed the environment in the process… Bush keeps his seat at the White House. The irony is that Clinton got impeached for lying over an affair, whereas Bush, the man whose lied and spun his country to a bloody war, gets re-elected. What does this say about America? |
| A six-year study recently published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has shown that those adults who boosted their whole fruit intake (not juices) during the research period put on less weight than those who didn't. The evidence seems to suggest that high-fat, Atkins-type diets may help with weight loss in the short term, but over time may be counterproductive. (We think that the Atkins diet is unhealthy, eco-destroying and causes disgusting breath and body odour.) |

| So many people in the UK are taking the antidepressant Prozac, that traces of this drug can now be found in our drinking water. Norman Baker, the Liberal Democrats' environemental spokesman said that this was looking like "a case of hidden mass medication upon the unsuspecting public". Prozac has been linked with akathisis (speediness), psychosis and suicide, although it should be remembered that the amounts in our drinking water are very dilute. |
